Description:

Location: Eagle Lake, South River, Ontario Set like a gem on the rim of a small bay, this delightful cottage is ideal for family getaways. The level, grassy yard and sandy beach provide perfect places for children to play while parents can watch from the nearby deck or dock. Adults can even keep a watchful eye on the youngsters while enjoying a sauna, since the fully glassed front of the sauna booth affords a splendid view of the grounds and lake. The sauna and three-bedroom cottage are available for use year-round and, when the weather is warm enough, the seasonal bunkie provides additional accommodation for multi-generational families. The lake view and waterfront at Crystal Haven will surely appeal to anyone who visits here, no matter what time of year. The shoreline is in a natural state but there is firm sand in the water, as well as on the beach. There are no weeds or rocks in the swimming area, the entry is shallow and deepens very gradually, which makes it quite safe for children. The dock extends approximately 60 feet into the lake and, even at the furthest point from shore, the water is only about 3-4 feet deep. The charming bay in front of the cottage is bracketed by picturesque points of land and a small island. The living room is bright and has large windows on two sides, as well as double-wide glass doors that open to a deck that extends along the entire front of the cottage. The sauna sits at one end of the deck and, at the other end, a screened section and extra-large picnic table provide great spots to dine or relax. Inside, the living room is equipped with two large sofas and a rocker, offering ample seating. For indoor dining, a long wooden table has benches that seat six, and chairs can be added at either end. The open-concept living/dining area leads into the kitchen, which is equipped with the essential major appliances and a coffee bar that features both a Keurig and a drip-style coffee maker. Framed in pine, the open-front cupboards allow easy access to dishes and glassware. Although water from the cottage’s well is filtered, there is also a water cooler in the hallway adjacent to the kitchen. The master bedroom, at the end of this short hall, has a king-sized bed and a lovely view of the lake. On the other side of the hall, the primary bathroom features both a step-in shower stall and an antique claw-foot tub for those who prefer to sink into the water and soak. Upstairs, a secondary powder room contains a washer and dryer, if needed. On this level, there is cozy sitting room, a spacious bedroom with a queen-sized bed and a sleeping nook that has a set of single bunks, plus a trundle bed below the bottom bunk. Additional beds for four are available in the seasonal bunkie. Snuggled beside the cottage, this one-room bunkie includes a double bed and a twin bed with a trundle that pulls out into a second full-sized single bed. There are 42-inch “Smart” TVs in both the upper sitting room and main-floor living room, as well as the bunkie. The upstairs television also has a Blu-Ray DVD player and a Wii game console. For those who prefer non-electronic entertainment, there is a collection of table games and puzzles in the downstairs living room. Outdoor games include horseshoes, volleyball and badminton. For water-based fun, the cottage is equipped with a canoe, a paddleboard and two kayaks. For those interested in venturing beyond the cottage property, the nearest village to check out is South River. Although it has a population of only about 1,100, it sports a nice selection of amenities, including a micro brewery, several bars/restaurants, an art gallery and the popular mineral/crystal/fossil exhibit and shop known as Crystal Cave. Other nearby recreational opportunities include the Eagle Lake Golf Course, Stewart Coughlin Riding Ranch and petting farm, as well as several parks – Mikisew Provincial Park, South River Cascade wilderness area and Tom Thomson Park, where there’s an 18-hole disc golf course. Or, for more adventurous entertainment, some visitors may want to take a guided tour offered by Outdoor Adventures ATV. Whatever the preference, Crystal Haven is a great place to use as home base for a cottage getaway!

A linen package includes sheets, pillowcases and towels for indoor use. The price for this will be shown as an option in the booking request form. **Paper products: The cottage will provide enough to get you started, but vacationers must supply their own, including toilet paper and paper towels. **Adult life jackets are supplied. Vacationers must bring their own children’s life jackets due to safety and liability concerns
