Pine Rock Cottage

Pine Rock Cottage is nestled among tall pine trees, atop large rocks, on the west shore of Watson Island in Lake Cecebe between Burk’s Falls and Magnetawan (35 minutes north of Huntsville). Pine Rock’s owners will pick you up at Rockwynn Landing (where there is free long term parking) when you arrive and return you there at the end of your rental period. Pine Rock Cottage comes with a private dock and the loan of a row boat and two sets of oars for your use.

There are 40 miles of navigable waterways stretching in both directions from Watson Island. It's an ideal place to get away from it all. – Pine Rock Cottage is great for a couple, two singles or a family with one or two children over 6, and a well behaved dog. Pine Rock Cottage is not a part of a resort, in fact, the only other cottages you can see from Pine Rock Cottage are across the lake.

The Cottage has a kitchen with refrigerator/freezer, microwave, toaster oven, two counter-top burners, sink, dishes, utensils, cutlery, pots, pans, serving dishes, queen bed, full-sized futon, two baseboard heaters, television (two channels), DVD player, table seating for four, propane barbecue, outside table and chairs, a private dock (for two or three boats) with swimming ladder, and a bench on the rock for watching the sunset. Two sky lights (in the bathroom and kitchen) let in plenty of light. One five gallon bottle of drinking water is provided. After that you can get free drinking water at one of the two artesian wells near Magnetawan or Burk’s Falls, or in a local store. The cottage has hydro, and cell phone coverage is good. The cottage is fully insulated, and there are base board heaters.

Pine Rock is a one-bedroom cottage with a queen-size bed with a double futon in the living room. There is a four-piece bathroom with a composting toilet and a fully equipped kitchen. Inside, there is table seating for four or you can chose to use the propane barbecue and enjoy a meal outside on the patio table and chairs provided. Pine Rock Cottage is quiet, peaceful, and ideal for relaxing, reading, writing, rowing, fishing or just “being”. You can keep to yourself and watch watercraft go past or enjoy water sports and explore the area.

A well behaved dog, one that reliably comes when called, is allowed if the owners agree to pick up all droppings. There is a strict “no parties” policy, and the maximum number that can stay overnight at Pine Rock Cottage is four people of any age. No tenting or camping is allowed.

There are always fishermen on Lake Cecebe. The lake contains walleye, northern pike, yellow perch and small mouth bass.

You will have the loan of a row boat while at Pine Rock Cottage. Boats and motors are available for rent on the lake. (Email Pine Rock Cottage owners to get contact information for boat renters.) There is a free public boat launch in the village of Magnetawan or you can use a boat launch at the Port Carmen Marina for $5 per use.

The two nearest towns, Burk’s Falls and Magnetawan, both have restaurants, grocery stores and small shops. Free long-term parking is available at Rockwynn Landing just off Hwy #520 where your hosts will pick you up when you arrive and drop you off when you leave.

Guests are expected to bring their own sheets and towels. However, these will be provided by your hosts for an additional $10 per week. - There is no smoking inside or outside at Pine Rock Cottage.

You are expected to leave Pine Rock Cottage in the same condition you found it. A cheque for $150 as a damage/cleaning deposit is required and will be returned when you leave if the cottage is clean and in good condition. – Cleaning supplies and equipment are provided.
