Ensconced on five acres in a beautiful ravine bordering on the majestic Magnetewan River that runs out of Algonquin Park and joins together several lakes; this is ‘heaven’ to those who appreciate a remote, “Algonquinesque” setting. Enjoy fishing, swimming, canoeing, hiking, wildlife, quiet lifestyle …do you remember ‘On Golden Pond”?
Find yourself in the ‘lap of luxury’ in a large two-story modern designed cottage and enjoy an upscale ‘camping experience’. Live off the grid using a generator, woodstove and propane in combination to meet all your needs. The large windows throughout give you a panoramic view of not only the waterfront area but also the forest surrounding the cottage. Traipse down to the dock in the morning and sit there quietly to take in the beautiful setting of forest and environmentally protected marshland. If you are quiet enough, you will see a deer, otter, mink or beaver. The early morning sun wrestles with the fog for rights over the river and you get to be front and center as the sun eventually wins.
When it rains, sit by the woodstove and read books from the library overlooking the living room from the study upstairs. The skylights allow enough light in so there is never a dark, dingy corner.
The master bedroom on the second floor has a balcony over the outside deck below. Enjoy a view not that different from being in a tree house. The deck offers shelter under a large umbrella, and the standard gas barbeque to cook up your meals. You can also cook inside on the propane stove, with the refrigerator to store any food.
Inside there is another upstairs bedroom that contains a queen-size bunk bed. The downstairs bedroom also offers a nice refuge for those who like to be close to the sunken living room. The study upstairs offers some privacy as a bedroom even though it has a balcony over looking the living room below. The cottage can sleep around 10 people.
In the area, take advantage of a beach in Kearney, two minutes away which is good for young children. Kearney also offers the basics, plus a Liquor Store. It also offers an outfitters store with four-wheelers to rent. Just a short trip away is Algonquin Park, Huntsville, Burkes Falls and Novar. Huntsville offers every amenity of a modern tourist city inclusive of a Walmart, Marks Work Warehouse, Home Depot, Theatre, Shops, Restaurants.
Waterfront: Sand and pebble entry on Perry Lake.
