Ellaway cottage is situated in a small bay on a large lake. The lake is connected to a river and another lake that provides many opportunities for canoeing, boating, kayaking and fishing. The property is well treed and set in from the main road for privacy and quietness. The property has a private, sandy bottomed, clean-water swimming area with a place to dive from a floating raft. The cottage is close to whitewater rafting and within an hour to Algonquin Park. There are many walking and ATV trails nearby. There are two boat launches on the lake and boat rentals available nearby. The cottage is located about two and a half hours from Ottawa and three and a half hours from Toronto.
The cottage has been recently renovated with pine in the interior and cathedral ceilings in the living area of the cottage. Stunning panoramic views of the lake can be seen through the large picture window in the dining area. There are three nicely appointed bedrooms with either a queen bed, a double bed or a set of bunk beds with a single on top and a double on the bottom. The living room has a queen size futon and a cozy Franklin fireplace. Even rainy days and cool nights are accommodated with an enclosed sun porch with large windows for those favourite cottage activities such as reading, playing games, enjoying conversation or star gazing in the evenings. There is a large wrap around, sun-kissed deck on the cottage and another deck at the water’s edge. The back of the cottage has a flat area for play. Wood is provided for the inside and outside fireplaces.
There is great fishing from multiple sites on the lake and boating is permitted on the lake and related waterways.
The nearest town, with shopping, entertainment, boat launch and health facilities, is ten minutes away via well maintained, paved roads.
Waterfront: Large firm sandy bottomed swimming area. There is a shallow entry at the shore-line and it deepens to three to four feet deep at the end of the dock. A swim raft further out allows for jumping and diving fun.
