The cottage is pine and cedar with breathtaking views throughout. Large, clean, open-concept 1800 square-foot, two decks (800 square-feet), Muskoka room for rain-viewing and sand paths with a variety of ornamental grasses surround the one-acre level fenced lot.
The best part about Grandview Lake besides the lake and the cottage is the area. There are great neighbours, quiet two-lane dirt road, acres of trees, trails and tree-forts to spin a lifetime of summer stories and myths. The cottage is close to two wonderful summer villages, (Baysville and Dorset), and a short drive (15 - 20 minutes) to larger centres and big resorts in Huntsville and Bracebridge. Baysville is six minutes away, with community playground, library (free books & videos, great chit-chat), ice-cream house, liquor store, five restaurants / bars, antique shops, two general stores, bakery, Friday Farmers' Market, plus a couple of summer festivals. Three minutes away is the Lake of Bays Sailing Club (inexpensive fun / companionship for ages 7-17, daily / weekly), free boat ride to Bigwin Island for good value lunch, a great golf course and spectacular views. Eight minutes away is Dorset - driving range, mini-golf, scenic tower, coffee house, Robinson's famous groceries, gifts & souvenirs, ice-cream, liquor store. Huntsville and Bracebridge have the big grocery and department stores, movie houses and theatres, waterfront restaurants and big resort dining. Port Sydney has a public sandy beach with a great view. More than a week's worth of memorable entertainment.
Waterfront: Sandy, shallow entry to water. 150 feet of water frontage on a perfect-size family lake called Grandview Lake -- rated one of Ontario's top 5 cleanest lakes. Two docks - one small dock at water level for children and ease of entry to shallow, rope-enclosed, sand and pebble bottom, weed-free waters. A longer 30-foot dock, morning coffee and newspaper, fishing or launch the canoe and paddleboat to Loon Island. There's a floating raft in deeper waters, with air mattresses and air donuts, all viewable from almost all rooms in the cottage. A firepit and Muskoka chairs along the shore.
Skiing: 20 minutes to Hidden Valley and 40 minutes to Sir Sam's Skiing. Winter cottage has three bedrooms and 1,300 square feet, 500 unheated. Hidden valley and Sir Sam's are located 35-40 minutes away.
