The Beach House is a modern four-bedroom, two-bath executive cottage on Big Basswood Lake, well suited for two families. Two bedrooms have king beds with new box springs and pillow-top mattresses. Another large bedroom "The Bunk House" has two sets of bunk beds with a new double box spring and mattress on the bottom. The fourth bedroom "The Bunkie" has a set of bunk beds with new double box springs and mattresses on the bottom.
It has a southwest exposure on a flat lot with a sandy beach and safe gradual sandy lake bottom. This insulated cottage's open-concept, nicely incorporates the kitchen, island, dining,
and living areas. The beach house has large windows throughout a smart combination of country and rustic decor. The upstairs bedroom walkway overlooks the knotty pine cathedral ceiling and cozy living area below. All rooms and walkways are accented with knotty pine wainscoting.
Step from the living room outdoors to the large, sunny, lakeside deck. It has two picnic tables with umbrella, deck furniture, and a propane barbeque with rotisserie. Walk from
the deck to the front lawn to enjoy a campfire, horseshoes or relax in the double wide hammock. The lawn merges onto the beach where a dock, a 16' aluminum boat, a two-person paddleboat or a canoe awaits your enjoyment. Then swim out to the Beach House raft.
From the back porch walk to the garage where the 18-speed mountain bikes (of various sizes) are waiting for you to explore the many miles of rural 2-track lanes.
If hiking or berry picking is on your agenda, the Beach house offers 300 acres of private property adjoining thousands of acres of crown land (including Ontario's living legacy crown land) as well as Ontario's Voyageurs Hiking Trail.
In 2000, Big Basswood Lake was deemed Ontario's clearest lake by the Ministry of the Environment. It is spring fed, crystal clear, approximately ten miles long, up to three miles wide and ranges 300 feet deep. Fishermen seek lake trout, whitefish, bass and perch. Approximately 3/4 of the shoreline is in its natural uninhabited state including majestic granite bluffs, as well as secluded sandy beach coves.
